Trump and the Nobel Peace Prize

Benjamin Netanyahu has nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. The Pakistani government has done the same. The Nobel Peace Prize is an award Trump very much wants to win. The world’s most recognized peace prize. How realistic is it that Donald Trump will win this prize and for what?
Peace Prize for Donald Trump, what has he done?
Trump played an important role in the conflict between Pakistan and India. He did the same in the conflict between Rwanda and Congo. In the two major wars going on today, he has tried to bring about solutions, but without any success. These two conflicts are Ukraine and Gaza.
When it comes to the war in Ukraine, Trump promised before the election to end the war from the first day he became president. His naive approach to Putin did not lead to a solution. The parties are as far apart today as they were before Trump took office.

Benjamin Netanyahu nominating Trump for the Peace Prize is understandable. Trump is trying to solve the war on Israel’s terms. In practice, this means expelling the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and Israel annexing the area. Peace cannot be created by a full capitulation, as Trump wants.
Recognition of a single agreement
It is conceivable that Trump could be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for a possible peace agreement between the warring parties in a specific conflict. In that case, the conflicts between Pakistan and India or Rwanda and Congo are hardly big enough. In order to receive such an award, reference must probably be made to a lasting peace agreement between Israel and Palestine or peace between Russia and Ukraine. Of course, peace agreements that do not represent capitulation by either party.
When it comes to peace between Israel and Palestine, the US is in practice part of the problem through its unconditional support for Israel.
Peace Prize for a total picture
Another possibility is that the Nobel Peace Prize could be awarded for a complete picture. Engagement and results in several conflicts could lead to Donald Trump receiving the prize he wants. The problem for Trump is that in such an overall picture, other things also come into play. The dismantling of democratic institutions in the US is hardly peace-building. Neither are US cuts in international humanitarian aid and the deportation of thousands of immigrants from the US.
His contribution to Israel’s attempts at ethnic cleansing in Gaza must also be included in this overall picture. It must also be taken into account that Trump’s hesitation and wavering on arms support for Ukraine has led to hundreds of civilians being killed in Ukraine. People have been killed because the US has periodically failed to provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons to protect itself against Russian missiles and drones.
Smisking
Nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize is in effect sucking up to him. Benjamin Netanyahu is wanted internationally and accused of war crimes. The fact that he is proposing Trump is unlikely to be greeted with cheers by the Nobel Committee.
Donald Trump has done nothing to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. Get Russia to withdraw from Ukraine or Israel and Palestine to recognize each other as states, then it may be relevant. A nomination for Trump now is just foolish.
