Odesa port attacked, hours after Russian-Ukrainian grain export agreement

Within a day after Ukraine signed an agreement with the UN and Turkey on shipping Ukrainian grain and Russia signed a similar agreement, Russia showed how much they can be trusted. Odesa port, which is one of three ports in the agreement, was bombed by Russia with rockets.
Not to be trusted
The incident today shows how much the world community can rely on agreements concluded by Russia. Although the attack today did not cause major damage to the port, grain storage or infrastructure. The attack on Odesa port clearly shows Russia’s big problem. This problem is that they do not care about internationally concluded agreements, unless these are to their own advantage.
Ukraine has also experienced this in the past. The Minsk 2 agreement is an example. In the agreement, Ukraine will gain control over the borders. Russia never gave them control of the borders. Thus, the Minsk 2 agreement slipped through the cracks. The Minsk 2 agreement was practically neglected that Russia and the Russians supported the separatists in Donbas.
Today’s bombing of the most important port for the export of millions of tons of grain from Ukraine is a signal from Putin. The signal is that the agreement is not respected. Many were skeptical in advance, today we got the answer immediately.
The Odesa port attack brings the world closer to a famine disaster
Russia is responsible for the global wheat shortage the world is facing. With today’s attack, it may be impossible to transport millions of tonnes of wheat to Africa and the Middle East, which are particularly dependent on wheat. Putin is playing a high game by turning the war in Ukraine into a global war for grain.
Odesa is Ukraine’s most important port city and Russia has tried to gain control of the city from the first day of the war. The attack is condemned by the UN, EU, USA and large parts of the rest of the world. Putin doesn’t care much about that, he wants to spread fear in an attempt to dampen Ukrainian morale.
