Alexei Navalny poisoned
It is reported that Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has been hospitalized in Siberia after being poisoned early this morning. He lost consciousness on board a plane en route from Tomsk in Siberia to Moscow and the plane had to make an emergency landing to get Alexei Navalny to hospital.
Poisoned earlier
This is not the first time Alexei Navalny has been poisoned. He was also poisoned in prison some time ago and hospitalized. His condition then was not as serious as it appears to be now.
It is claimed that the poisoning probably happened when he drank tea at the hotel this morning.
Poisoning what Russia describes as dangerous people has a long history.
Confirms that Navalny is in hospital
It was Navalny’s press secretary who posted a message about the incident on Twitter. It has been confirmed by the police that Alexei Navalny is hospitalized in the city of Omsk in Siberia.
At the time of writing, Navalny is unconscious in the intensive care unit of the hospital.
Arrested and poisoned earlier

This is not the first time Navalny has been poisoned, if this is a poisoning. Also while he was in prison a couple of years ago, he was admitted to hospital with what he himself claims was poisoning.
He has been arrested several times in connection with demonstrations. Hans is critical of the culture of corruption in Russia and a strong critic of President Putin. He has also been arrested and sentenced for fraud. These are sentences that many believe are fabricated to keep him away from elections in Russia. The European Court of Human Rights describes Navalny as a political prisoner.
When Skripal was poisoned
On 4 March 2018, former Russian agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter were poisoned in England. Investigations showed that it was Novichok, which is a nerve agent. England accused Russia of being behind the poisoning and investigations later confirmed this.
Some time later, the Russians Aleksander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov were charged with the incidents. England claims these worked for the Russian intelligence service GRU.
Russia also has a dark history when it comes to killing political opposition and critical journalists. Perhaps the most famous is the murder of Boris Nemtsov on 27 February 2015.
