Volodymyr Zelensky, the unifying president

Volodymyr Zelensky, the unifying president

Volodymyr Zelensky has become the very symbol of Ukraine’s enormous will to resist. I was skeptical of him when he was elected president in 2019. What I meant was that he would be a lightweight in the meeting with Putin. I did not think he had what it took. So wrong I have made. The pictures of a unifying president who is in the streets of Kyiv will not be evacuated tell all about the president. I had some trouble finding a suitable image in my illustration. In the end, I decided to combine two images. Picture of the blue Ukrainian sky over the endless yellow fields with grain. This is actually what the Ukrainian flag illustrates. I just as well cut the president’s picture here. A president who is the symbol of his country and the will to fight during the Russian invasion.

Old post

This post is over 1 year old. The content might therefore be less relevant now.

Voldymyr Zelenskyj, from comedian to Servant of the People

Zelensky became famous in a Ukrainian comedy on television. The series was about an ordinary man who by chance and against his own will became the President of Ukraine. The series is called The Servant of the People. It was this name that was chosen when he actually wanted to try to become president. First he was elected president in a democratic election, then his party became the largest in the election to a new parliament. A police landslide took place. From a Norwegian perspective, it is difficult to place the People’s Servant in any particular ideology or political color. But the main feature is that the party is pro EU and will fight corruption. The party is also in favor of legalizing medical cannabis. This is legalized in a number of countries. Maybe this is what Putin is thinking when he describes the authorities in Kyiv as a bunch of drug addicts.

The servants of the people are what the President of Ukraine is these days. If perhaps not earn, then at least a unifying symbol. Ukrainians’ enormous struggle against a superior military power is difficult to understand. Without a president who is united, stands in the streets and refuses to flee, the morale of the rest of the people could have been weakened.

Peace Prize

I can not nominate anyone for the Nobel Peace Prize. But I would hope that Volodymyr Zelenskyj is suggested by someone who can do it. In my opinion, he is the symbol of peace. The symbol of willingness to negotiate, which Putin rejects in all attempts.

A country has the leader they deserve, many say. Then Ukraine has undeniably found a leader who has been the most important thing for the war-torn country. They have found a unifying leader. Thank you for making such a mistake when Ukraine elected a comedian as president.
