Kara-Murza convicted of treason

Like most people who speak out against Putin’s regime, Vladimir Kara-Murza was sentenced to 25 years in prison. He was imprisoned after the outbreak of war in Ukraine, allegedly for spreading false information about the war. Among other things, he used the term war and not “special operation” about the attack on Ukraine. Like most other imprisoned oppositionists in Russia, treason and the term foreign agents are used.
Kara-Murza and Boris Nemtsov
Kara-Murza previously worked as an adviser to Boris Nemtsov. In February 2015, Boris Nemtsov was shot and killed on the street in Moscow. Some assassins allegedly from Chechnya were arrested and convicted of the murder. Who were the clients is still unclear. The murder of Boris Nemtsov joined the series of murders of political opponents of Putin.
The murder of Boris Nemtsov aroused great international contempt. Since then, both Kara-Murza and the imprisoned Alexei Navalny have been tried to be killed with poison. Clearly, no other political opinion is accepted in Russia than that advised by the Kremlin. Political opponents are cleared from the road, either by murder or long prison terms.
Russia is a totalitarian society and Putin is a dictator
It is quite clear that Russia is not only a society without democracy, but that the country has entered the ranks of totalitarian regimes. That is, regimes that use all means to suppress and maintain their own power.
Large parts of Putin’s political opponents are either imprisoned, killed or have left the country and live in exile in other countries.
It is a human right to say what you think and think freely. Kara-Murza, like all other imprisoned Russians who disagree with Putin’s policies, should be released. The world will never forget Kara-Murza, Navalny and all other political prisoners.
