Trump is Putin’s puppet

During CNN’s questioning of presidential candidates for the 2024 presidential elections, Mr Trump said he could end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. This prompted a reaction from the former Republican governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie. He says Mr Trump is likely to “give” Ukraine to Russia and uses a term like Putin’s puppet. Chris Christie is probably running as the presidential candidate for the Republican Party. He then takes up the fight against Trump to become the candidate for the party.
Ukraine is lost without US support
Trump’s statement that he will stop the war within 24 hours is not surprising to me. It is likely that he will stop all arms aid to Ukraine immediately and that this is why he says the war will end within 24 hours.
During his time as president, Trump showed several times that he admired Putin. Trump is also trying to pressure Ukraine to launch an investigation against Biden’s son in order to use the investigation in his election campaign. When Ukraine would not launch such an investigation, Mr Trump tried to use the economic weapon to pressure Ukraine.
Chris Christie’s words on puppet
The suspicion of Russian interference before the presidential election in 2016 is well documented. Putin’s clear desire to have Trump as president is equally clear.
Donald Trump can hardly be seen as a president with great democratic ideals. His claim that the 2020 elections were fixed and that he was the real winner is dangerous and clearly bears the hallmarks of a man for whom power matters more than democracy. This is something he has in common with someone he has said many times that he admires. It is, of course, Russian President Putin.
The Republican Party must make a choice
It is up to the Republican Party itself to decide whether they want to let Donald Trump become the presidential candidate. For my part, I would hope for two younger candidates this time. My wish for the Republican candidate is that he or she takes the party back to what we remember from the Bush and Reagan era.
Under Trump, the party has shifted to become a party of nationalist, anti-feminist and racist attitudes. During Trump’s time in the White House, the party shifted to become a party of pronounced scepticism for democracy. Trump and Putin could be a dangerous mix, for Ukraine a disaster waiting to happen. Chris Christi’s words about Putin’s puppet are unfortunately a truth.
