Belarus, an occupied country
Belarus is an occupied country. This is what the Belarusian Association in Norway RAZAM says on its web pages and on Facebook. The association’s support for Ukraine’s struggle to survive as an independent and free country is obvious. After the presidential election in 2020, Alexander Lukashenko survives as president because Russia has sent large forces to the country to gag the people.
The referendum in February
In February, shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Belarus held a referendum. Like all elections after Alexander Lukashenko came to power, this one is also rigged. The outcome was not unexpected as Russia wanted. The result was that Belarus opened up to deploy other countries’ military forces (in reality Russian) and weapons in the country, including nuclear weapons. The referendum is also open to an attack on another country from Belarusian territory. The election was of course decided before the so-called referendum.
The so-called referendum was held on February 27, that is, 3 days after Russia attacked Ukraine. Part of the attack took place through Belarusian territory. One actually acquires legitimacy for the attack on Ukraine after it actually happens.
Alexander Lukashenko on Putin’s mercy in occupied Belarus
After the presidential election in the autumn of 2020, which I described in my blog as a rigged election, the country’s dictator has ruled over Putin’s grace. Without Russian forces in the country, the dictator would have been removed by the people. The election was rigged, all opposition in reality crushed through imprisonment. Several members of the Belarusian opposition have left the country and are living in exile in Western countries.
Belarusian Association in Norway RAZAM fights for Belarusian freedom and the dream that Belarus will not be an occupied country. As long as Putin is in power in Russia, it is difficult to envisage a change for the better. But the dream of a free and independent Belarus lives on among the people.
The struggle that the people of Belarus and Ukraine are fighting for independence is in fact a matter of the same issue. Belarus is practically occupied. Putin is trying to do the same in Ukraine.
