Will Israel forcibly relocate the Palestinians?

Will Israel forcibly relocate the Palestinians?

In a document from the military ministry in Israel, it is proposed to transfer the Palestinian civilians to Egypt’s side of the Sinai. A desire to annex the Gaza Strip is probably behind it. The proposal is unethical and creates no solution to an ethnic conflict between two peoples who claim the same area. The proposal could lead to some of the problems being transferred to Egypt. Israel must stop annexing Palestinian territories. Forced relocation of a population is not the solution to peace.

Palestinians in Egypt are transferring a problem

Egypt basically does not want Palestinians on Egyptian territory. This is the reason why they have kept the border between Sinai and Gaza closed at the start of the war. Hamas is an organization that has a lot in common with the “Muslim Brotherhood” in Egypt. An extreme Muslim organization that is banned in Egypt.

The Muslim Brotherhood won the 2012 Egyptian elections. The election then led to the military staging a coup and the organization was subsequently banned. Egypt fears that the organization will gain increased support if Palestinian refugees enter Egypt. Forced relocation of Palestinians to Sinai can therefore cause the conflict to spread.

Opening the border, the first step towards forcibly moving the population

Israel and Palestine in the Middle East on contour map. Palestinian territories of Gaza and West Bank. Jerusalem and Jordan River on outline map. Theme of Israel, war, conflict.

Today the border between Gaza and Egypt opened. After lengthy diplomatic negotiations, some foreign nationals and a small number of severely injured Palestinians were allowed to pass through the border. The injured Palestinians are transported to a field hospital on the Egyptian side.

Israel continues its attacks against targets inside Gaza. It all resembles more and more an attempt to drive the Palestinians away from Gaza. Such a policy will not solve any problem. As I wrote in a previous blog , a solution lies in a two-state solution. What Israel is doing now is trying to forcibly relocate Palestinians to Sinai and Egypt.

Perhaps Egypt will have to open the border completely and thus let in all Palestinians who want it. It solves Israel’s problem temporarily. At the same time, extreme Islamist thoughts are now becoming an even bigger problem in Egypt.
